FAQs
What is the story behind the formula?
I was training for an Ironman in 2018 and I routinely consumed an energy or pre-workout drink before my evening workout. Halfway through the training cycle, I realized I was not making any progress because my sleep was so poor. I did not realize that caffeine can stay in your body for several hours after consumption and this led to many restless nights.
In fact, according to the FDA, the half-life of caffeine — the time it takes for the starting amount of the substance to reduce by half — is between four and six hours. This means that up to six hours after drinking a caffeinated beverage, half of the caffeine you consumed is still present in your body.
As a highly sensitive individual to caffeine, I found that I had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep if I consumed it after 12:00 PM. This turned into a vicious cycle where I’d up my caffeine intake the next day to compensate. As a result, my sleep quality kept getting worse and so did my workouts.
After doing some research I found an herbal extract called rutaecarpine that induces production of CYP1A2, the enzyme responsible for 99% of caffeine metabolism.
